Mr. Drake with One of My Favorite Weapons in the Game

With the announcement of the 160GB Playstation 3 Bundle with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune in Sony’s conference on the first day of the Leipzig Games Convention, I have decided to launch the first of my ‘Greatest Hits’ reviews for Playstation 3 games that have already been released. I haved played this magnificent video game about 4 times now through now: 2 times before the Trophy patch and another 2 times after the Trophy patch was released. This game continues to amaze me and a great number of players and was one of my personal top contenders for Game of the Year last year. Now launching the first of my Greatest Hits reviews is my official review of Naughty Dog’s masterpiece, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Read more »

Our pals in PAL territories are getting another nice service. They already have PlayTV to hang their hats on, but now they have VidZones as well. VidZones will allow PAL PS3 owners to stream music videos. Remote-Play will enable you to view these music videos on your PSP as well. (Amazing, I know). This service will be available Early 09. There Will Be Heavy Rain In 2009

The trailer confirms that this spectular looking title will be available to PS3 owners sometime in 2009. I have to say that I am completely floored by this. I figured that Heavy Rain would look good. I did not expect it to look like this. Day one purchase, pre-order, and every other guarantee of my 59.99 was sealed with this.

A wireless keypad was announced for the DS3 and SixAxis during the Sony Press Conference. This should come in handy with all of the in-game messages that you are probably receiving these days. The attachment will connect via the USB port at the top of your controller. There will also be “touchpad” mode. Shortcut buttons for your message box and friends list are also provided. Thank goodness. I like the convenience that provides. Read more »

So sexy

So sexy

The PSP-3000 has been announced. It was the first announcement made. The PSP-3000, also known as the Slim and Lite. It will have a built-in mic and a new LCD screen. The new screen will improve the color display and reduce glare. (I’m sold). This will be released first in Europe on October 15th.

David Reeves has also announced a 160GB PS3. It will be released on Halloween. No word on a release in other territories at this time. PS3fanboy is reporting that the 160GB PS3 will not have PS2 BC.

UPDATE

The 160GB PS3 will come with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, a voucher for Pain, and a DualShock 3. It will function exactly like the newly announced/released 80GB PS3. That means no PS2 BC. You do get twice the HDD space. It will retail for $499.99

The PSP-3000 will come with a 4GB memory stick pro duo or the Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters entertainment pack. 4GB is a lot of space. (I’m buying this model even though I recently purchased a PSP-2000. I’m giving it to…you guessed it, my brother). These packs will still cost $199.99 and eventually you will be able to purchase the PSP-3000 hardware alone for $169.99.

Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters Entertainment Pack

  • Mystic Silver PSP-3000
  • Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
  • National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets
  • echochrome PSN voucher
  • 1 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo

4GB Entertainment Pack

  • Piano Black PSP-3000
  • 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo
  • Everyday Shooter PSN Voucher

Have you ever been in a cooper?

Konami will be releasing an HD racing game on PSN this November. The title will be in 720p, 60fps, and 5.1 surround sound. The title will also support the PS Eye. So you can see the people that you are racing against if you choose to. There will be a variety of game modes including Arcade and Free Run. The title has only been confirmed for Europe as of the moment.

Gaming in the eye of the gamer? Maybe so
Gaming in the eye of the gamer? Maybe so

Videogaming247 is reporting that a “next-gen” PSEye title will be revealed during the Sony Press Conference today. Additional PS Eye gaming content was on our Leipzig announcement wish list. No one has let what the exact details of the game are slip. In truth, the genre of the game has not been leaked either. So it could be anything. I would not be surprised by a FPS. You do remember seeing the ability to use the EyeToy to look around corners. (I personally wanted to see this in Resistance 2 and Killzone 2). Anything is possible. It could even be another card game. (EOJ is fun. You know it is).

Thank you to Jamie S. of ThatGamingSite for pointing this story out for us.

UPDATE

Do you want a pet that you don’t have to buy food for and clean up after? How about a pet that can do things such as color? I want one. In fact, it is the only type of pet that I want. This and more is what you can expect from the upcoming title, EyePet.

Easy in-game messaging done right

Easy in-game messaging done right

This is a re-review…  I felt the need because the addition of in-game messaging has increased the value of this device.  For the most part, I message all day while I play.  Without this device, messaging would be cumbersome and time-consuming, to a point that I could not keep up with my messages, invites, etc.  This device has become a staple in my PlayStation 3 experience.

We all know using the PS3 on screen keyboard to type, can be very tedious. So tedious, that I have had people whom I’ve sent a PSN message to, reply via email, just so they could just type on their computer.

I didn’t really want a huge full-sized keyboard and mouse setup, as I game from the comfort of my couch. I don’t have the space for it and its inconvenient.

Doesnt take up your lap, or force you to game at a desk.

Doesn't take up your lap, or force you to game at a desk.

There is a thumbpad accessory for the PS3.  But many have reported that it was a waste of money, even some people claiming it couldn’t even connect to the PS3.

So what is a PS3 owner to do to be able to type with ease? The answer? Logitech diNovo Mini. Read the review below… Read more »

Rearmed Start-up Screen

Bionic Commando: Rearmed Start-up Screen

The long-awaited return of our mission to rescue Super Joe has finally arrived. Controlling Nathan “Radd” Spencer again for the first time in two decades, this updated version of Bionic Commando is pure bliss. As a veteran of the series and having completed the original Bionic Commando on the Nintendo Entertainment System, this game has brought back many memories. To those who have also played the game many years ago, you will have a great trip down memory lane. To those who were not able to play the game back then, prepare yourself for a challenging experience that revolutionized old-school platforming games. This is my official review of Bionic Commando: Rearmed for the Playstation 3. Read more »

These are some of the best looking trophies so far. IMO

NOVASTRIKE was a title that quickly became famous for its difficulty. Some people even decided to stop playing the game because of the difficulty. Tiki Games heard your cries and decided to address the issue. Instead of just offering different levels of difficulty for the player, Tiki Games decided to pack this update full of goodness. Here’s what is in store:

  • Trophies
  • 4 difficulty levels
  • Custom Music via the XMB
  • Customizable Controls

That is just part of what is in store. For the full details head over to the PS Blog.
